TALK THAT TALK- RIHANNA
This is the front cover of Rihanna's album 'Talk That Talk'. I like the way this album cover looks very rough, urban and edgy and I like the way her personality is shown through this album cover through her facial expression, her personality being a bad sexy girl. Her face is tilted slightly downwards and he eyes are squinting looking upwards giving a sort of evil demeanour, and looking almost like a prison mug shot. Her red lipstick shows that she is a sex icon as red connotes passion and love as well as danger suggesting that she is a dangerous person. Her tongue sticking out slightly adds to her being a sex icon as tongues are associated with kissing which can be seen as a sexual act. I plan to use this idea of showing personality in my Digipak when making it as I think that this is really important in selling the artist and making you connect with them. You also know through this cover that she is a very well known artist as her full name is not written on the album cover, just her logo being the 'R' this means that she is recognisable and doesn't need to tell people who she is as her logo and face is recognisable to everyone.
This is the back of the album where the tracklist is shown. This is a really unique way of showing the tracklist as usually it would be written out in specific font with a glamorous photo in the background. However the tracklist is written in pen on the wall and the star is posing next to it pulling a funny face. This shows that the genre of this album is quite urban and its quite raw and shows the artist as she really is, the 'true her' as she is wearing a hoodie, not looking glammed up, just looking real. I plan to use this in my album cover by making my artist look real as I feel this shows the urban theme even further.
These two images are found in the middle of the album. These images show that she is a sex icon as she has a lot of skin showing. Her laid back poses, with her legs open and her leaning back on her arm suggests that she's quite a cool character as well as her smoking shows that she is a bad girl and can be seen as cool as well as she goes against the rules. I feel like these images work really well for the album because of the urban background and her urban clothing. I plan to use this in my Digipak by using the urban style.
This is the disk for the album, I really like the way it is a news paper article about the album ripped out from the article. This subconsciously makes us like the album even more as it seems as though it is talked about. It also gives a older urban look to it.
