WEEK 7- THOUGHTS SO FAR

So far I am really happy with how our planning of our music video is going. We have faced some rough patches as a group with concerns to different ideas with the visuals and colours, but we have overcome this by compromising to suit everyone so that we all make an end product that we are all happy with. I feel as though we are nearly ready to move onto the next stage of filming and getting our music video together ready for our sessions in the editing suit, i am confident that when we go to film we will have a positive outcome because of the planning and preparation we have done and i feel as though if we hadnt have done this planning we would have negative outcomes from filming and would need to reshoot often. Overall i am pleased with how the music video project is going so far.

WEEK 6- AUDIENCE RESEARCH FEEDBACK

From this questionaire we found that most people of our target age group listen to the genre of pop. 4 out of 9 of our audience members found said that pop was their was their favourite genre and the second most popular genre would be hip hop and r&b. We found that people would expect to see in a music video dancing, flashing lights and a music video that relates to the actual lyrics of the song. They said that the colours had to be enagaging and the music video had to be entertaining for it to be watchable and keep your inticed. We then asked then what they would expect to see in a dance music video. They answered that as it is a dance song there must be dancing, and that it should have a happy vibe to it, keeping it very smiley. They also thought that a coordinated dance would look really good.
We then pitched our idea across to them and ask them what they thought, they thought that these ideas made our music video sound fun and that it would make the video inticing. Alot of them agreed that the graffitti tunnel in london would look really cool and convey our urban vibe that we want. We then asked weather they think that this music video would appeal to our target audience of 15-25 year olds. We were told that it would if the colours were lively, however we were told that 15 years of age may be a little too young for our genre and music video idea and that 25 was a little too old, we were suggested that 17-20 years old would be more suitable. We also got told to include voyeurism in our music video as they believed this appealed to our mass market. We then asked if they would like to give us any ideas about our music video in terms of what we could add. We were told that we shouldnt just have the artist performing we should have some action and something going on so that the audience is more interested in the music video. We also were told to make sure that there arent to many people in each shot as the main star can get drowned out and confuse the audience. We were also told that a club scene would also look really good.

WEEK 5- ANAMATIC

We have finished editing the anamatic for our music video, this gives us a rough idea of what our music video will look like and is almost like a story board animated together.

Friday 21 November 2014

NAME FOR OUR ARTIST

We all decided on the name 'Tomi' as our star name, we decided on this as we thought it was unique and made our star stand out. Its also quite an edgy name giving it a more urban feel which links into our genre of deep house and dance.

WEEK 2- PITCH

This is the pitch for our music video, this is also posted on our group blog.

Monday 29 September 2014

WEEK 1-INITIAL IDEAS

As a group we have decided to make our music video of the genre of dance and deep house, we decided on this genre because we all agreed that it was the most popular genre at the moment with young people, we knew that we wanted a younger target audience as we wanted our music video to be fun. We were initially thinking of using the song afterglow, i personally really liked this song and would have prefered to pick this one i also really liked the original music video and thought it would be interesting to see our different takes on it.

However my group decided that they didnt like it enough so we did some research and found a song that we all agreed on, this was Gecko (Overdrive)' by Oliver Helden featuring Becky Hill. We decided that this song was perfect as there were enough lyrics and it was upbeat enough to make our music video look really cool and fast cut.

STAR IMAGE- KANYE WEST

Kanye West- Rapper Singer Song Writer

Kanye west is known for his controversies throughout his career. The first main controversial thing he did was during a benefit concert in 2005 when he said "George bush doesn't care about black people", this caused a lot of drama within the united states of America which bush even commented on saying it was "one of the most disgusting moments of his presidency"
Kanye west is known for being very self obsessed, at the American music awards 2004 he lost the award of best new artist to which he stormed out of the auditorium, later saying that he "was the best new artist of the year"
The most recent and well known controversy of his was when he striked on the innocent Taylor Swift at the MTV music awards when she won the award of best female video, kanye west went onto stage and grabbed the microphone to tell all that he thought that beyonce should have won the award

Image

Kanye has had a very big impact the fashion industry, being known for his slick style, he has released a line with Louis Vuitton for shoes as well as releasing a shoe with Adidas which has made a big impact on the company Adidas making Adidas classics a big fashion trend of 2014.

Songs

Kanye wests music has changed over this years which almost has the effect of remaking him self to appeal to more people. His first few albums were very meaningful and he portrayed himself to be quite religious with the single "Jesus walks" which is an extreme juxtaposition to the song "Gold Digger". He has done this to attract all kinds of audience and almost has created two different Kanyes, through many people discussing weather they prefer the old or new west.
His songs now are more of the typical rapper songs, which are stereotypically about sex, drugs and alcohol and everything that is seen as deviant.
Kanye is known to be best friends with the very influential rapper Jay Z, and one of the biggest albums Kanye was to have ever have made was the "Watch The Throne" album with Jay Z. This album is known by all and is said to be the best album in the decade, featuring major artists like BeyoncĂ© and Frank Ocean. The most popular song from the album is the unforgettable "N***as In Paris".

Personal life

Kanye is always seen to be with beautiful women and the most recent and popular women he has been with is Kim Kardashian whom he recently got married to. The couple are also known by there joint name Kimye. The wedding was broadcasting on tv on the hit tv show Keeping up with the Kardashian. Kanye has a daughter with Kim by the name of North west which caused a lot of talk  in the press all discussing the strangeness of her name. Kanye has also made it a rareity that you see the baby making sure that she is not shown on the tv show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. This makes the baby seem like much more of a big deal with pictures of her are released

VOYEURISM

Blurred Lines analysis-
This video has the main codes and conventions of Hip Hop music, one of these being voyeurism, blurred lines is based around voreyrism and objectifying women to make men look superior, throughout the video women aren't really paid attention to which suggests that women are disposable and only shown when they are needed for example when they are being touched by the males or looked at in a sexual way. The men are covered showing no flesh in contrast to the women who aren't wearing any clothes this shows voyeurism. The women are also dressed in white underwear, white connotes innocence and clarity which contradicts to the lyrics and music video, the red lipstick that the women are wearing connotes lust, sex and danger which draws attention to their lips which is seen as sexual. The colour of their lipstick is also similar to the colour of the objects for example the car, this connotes that the women are seen as no more than objects.

GOODWINS THEORY- PARAMORE

How this video shows genre characteristics

The genre of this music video is pop rock, this is shown through the black background of the music video saying Riot in writing all over it, this links to theme of pop rock/punk because it links to the anger that is portrayed through this  genre. The bands clothing, the black tops paired with the bright red trousers link to the genre as these are typical colours of rockers to wear, the red and black together could symbolise anger and death which is what seems to be the main themes of rock/ punk music. The lead singer has her hair died with yellow/orange on the ends, this shows she is energetic which is a typical aspect of a pop/rock music video.

Voyeurism

Voyeurism is shown in this music video abit, this is through the main charecter that the song is a about being a "whore" she is seen in the music video kissing  a
boy who already has a girlfriend and is seen to be wearing a dress where her breasts are on show which is provacate to be to wearing in a high school.
The lyrics show voyeursim too "once a whore your nothing more", this is to say that once a women has sexual relations multiple times she is labelled with the word "whore" and can never leave this label however this does not apply to men as men are supposed to biologically have a sex drive. We also see in the lyrics that it says, "there's a million other girls who'd do it just like you, looking as innocent as possible to get to who" suggesting that there are many women in the world that are seen to be "whores" and the fact that they are looking "innocent" suggests that many people don't realise there intentions which always turn out to be sexual.

Link between Music video visuals and lyrics
The lyrics are talking about a girl who is a "whore" who steals other peoples boyfriend in this case it is her story that she is talking about.
In the first verse the lyrics says "shes got a body like an hour glass its ticking like a clock" in the music video the camera focuses on her hourglass figure as she walks through school. When we see her walk through school she almost outcasts the cheerleaders who seem attractive but are nothing to her as she sees herself as more important. There is also a link between the visuals and the lyrics through when it says, "Looking as innocent as possible to get to who" when this lyric is said the camera focuses on the girls innocent face to hide the manipulative "Whore" inside of her.
In the music video we clearly see that the main character is the girl and by her provocative dress we can clearly see that this "whore" in the lyrics is the one in the music video. We also see her kissing a boy when he seems to be having an intimate moment with his girlfriend, this furthermore shows that she is the girl as she has attempted to destroy there relationship by kissing the boy. This part of the song also links to the lyrics at the beginning of the song "when I thought he was mine she caught him by the mouth".
